્રા Prehistoric yug Archaeological research suggests that human life in some parts of Gujarat, like in other parts of India, may have gone through the ancient Stone Age, Middle Stone yug and New Stone Age. The sites and relics of this historical period are obtained from the regions and ravines of rivers like Sabarmati, Mahisagar, Narmada, Meshwo, Sabarmati, Banas river, etc. In the metal age, industries along with agriculture and cities along with villages developed in the regions of Gujarat. Somnath, Patan, Lothal, etc. were traded with Rakhjo through dams.
According to the Mahabharata Yuga program, the Vedic age comes after the New Stone Age and the culture age, but there is no mention of Gujarat in the Vedic literature. The authentic history of Gujarat dates back to the time of Chandragupta Maurya. The regions of Gujarat and Saurashtra came under the rule of King Chandragupta of Magadha. Chandraguptas Suba Pushpa Gupta of Saurashtra built a reservoir called Sudarshan to encourage agriculture in and around Girinagar. It is mentioned in the inscriptions near Ashokas Girnar mountain.


Gupta yug Chandragupta II conquered Saurashtra, Gujarat and Malwa regions is proved by his coins and articles. Gold and silver coins of Chandragupta II, Kumaragupta and Chandragupta have been found from these regions.

◼️ Maitrak Yuga With the fall of the Gupta Empire, Bhattark, a suba Maitrak dynasty of the Gupta king, established the independent power of Gujarat in Valabhipur.
